    mk4 1.6 16v problem.. newbe needs help :)

    hi everyone..first post here so sorry if its in the wrong section.

    just got my car on friday..its a 2001 1.6 16v mk4 sxi.

    about 100miles after getting it the engine management light came on and the car started strugling to idle..would start at 900rpm then slowly drop to 600-700rpm then slowly start droping again..it hasnt got that bad that it has cut out though.

    i dont no what the problem is and i cant get it pluged into a computer untill the end of next week.

    i am new to vauxhals and electronic throtle bodies so i need sum help ..

    i think the diagnosis of funny idling has been discussed several times have a look at previous posts

    i had this with mine, just started one day with no warning.
    A new coil pack made it feel better than ever

    try plugging a 2nd hand one in or borrow somebody elses?
    94 quid is a bit of a gamble

    could just be a gunked up throttle body,
    or a blocked EGR valve

    both have been disscussed at length on other threads and there how to's on this site to help you out.

    sorry was a bit tired last night...

    best to get the fault code read & cleared first.

    use the "brake pedal test" if you aint got a reader. do a seach for it!
