    strange misfire this morning

hi guys been a while since ive had problems with the old beast!
i was accelerating up a hill i can normally get up in 3rd no problem when i noticed the revs drop so i changed down to second and the car started shaking, definitely misfiring. so i accelerated up hard in second and as soon as i got to the top of the hill a minute later the misfire had gone and has been fine since! its a 1.4 2001 mk4 ,

anyone any ideas what could have caused it? the eml didnt come on, all i know is the engine was cold and ive just gone through a full tank of fuel with redex in which is now down to a quarter, dont know if the redex could have caused it

EGR valve stuck at a guess, that or a slight blockage in the fuel system.

I've got a 1.4 ls too and it did this day before I was due my MOT. The test centre's a good 27 miles away.(consulted a mechanic when i first noticed and he said it wouldn't do the engine much good but I'd probably make it), so decided to drive it up that night so at least if it was stuck, it was stuck at the garage. They started it next day and it was fine? Been fine last 6 months too...
