    Problems with Shell Fuelsave

    Hi,

Has anyone else had any problems using Shell Fuelsave?

I've a Mk5 2.0L Turbo SXI, 78k miles and it's always run perfectly. I've just filled up with two full tanks in succession of Shell Fuelsave. It seemed OK on the first tank, but on the second it felt rougher and I had a strange sound at part throttle and low revs from the engine particularly in 5th and 6th. Sort of a cross between a whine and pinking. I've just filled up again but with cheap Asda juice, and the car is now back to normal, smooth and no noises.

Is this just a bad one off fill or is it the new petrol?

Shell is the closest to me so tend to use it a lot, but I'm a bit reluctant to do so now.

    Am I worrying over nothing?

i stuck 25 quid in coz i was broke was on the flashing light, the car ran ok for 50 miles then felt sluggish and lumpy on throttle... i always use vpower when i can

i'm also running a 2.0 turbo sri (mk4) and i reccommend vpower on these engines.

Ha ha you wouldn't be saying that if you always had to fill it up at these prices! I stopped v power ages ago for that reason!

ive not long got rid of my turbo, and was paying well over what current prices are when i was running it, doing 100 a week in fuel easy, yes it was annoying, but great fun

    If you're runnning a turbo, I highly recommend V-Power.

I've used the normal sheel stuff and I have some how gone for 2 weeks on 1 tank and then topped up with a £10 yesterday to get me through for a bit.

Got normal 1.8 coupe car seems fine.
Be an optimist - at least until they start moving animals in pairs to Cape Canaveral.

Of the 78k less than 10k has been done on vpower, yes in sport mode vpower makes a difference but with it off I struggle to notice. Doing over 20k per year it's difficult to justify the extra money for vpower and up till these Fuelsave fills it's been beautifully sweet on normal fuel.
