    need a bit of advice

    long post alert!

i am 21 and always drinking alot of water and orange juice and stuff like that (not normally fizzy stuff). Very rarely have any booze but i am always thirsty... i can have a whole mug of water and still feel firsty right away. usually drinking like 20 - 30 cups a day and i still feel thirsty

i have been like this for a very long time and last year went through a spell of passing out for no real reason. Had to have a heart monitor on me last year all the time and they did a few tests. basically said there was no reason they could see why i was passing out and my kidney/s (cant remember how many people normally have ) were one of the best the doctors had seen and it just got left as that.

i dont wanna mention it to my parents cos they have other things on their minds right now and i really dont like going to the hospital or doctors so was wondering if anyone maybe knows what this might mean other then me spending alot on water?

i read on the interclicks somewhere that this means i might be diabetic, but no one in the family is so i dont see why i should be

any ideas, info or own experiences anyone?

    thanks!

im no doctor but i have read that you have the symptoms of being diabetic,

also, it makes no difference if no one else in your family is diabetic?

i would do more reserch online to try and get to the bottom of it and then try to approach your gp.
also try and speak to your parents, they would rather know the postion you are in.(i know that is easy for me to say)
I would like to know if my son or daughter was worried about their health!

I would get a check up regarding diabetes which is, in spite of all you have heard, not the worst thing in the world to have.

Not groovy, but not the worst.

do you eat a lot of salt? If I have a salty mal, like chinese, or dominos pizza I am constantly thirsty for ages after. And don' get me started on MSG!

To rule out the diabetes thing, some pharmacies (chemists) can do testing with immediate results.

    Find yourlocal (or not) here:

    http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Measure_U...rmacy-locator/

If you do find out you have it, as said above it's not as bad people think...

As Coo says Bud, diabetes is totally controllable and not as bad as it sounds. Most of my family on both my Mum's and Dad's sides are diabetic and they are all active and not hampered by the condition at all. It can be controlled using pills a lot of the time, only my grandparents had to have injections. Just go to your local Lloyds Pharmacy and they'll do the test for free. Don't worry about it.

as everybody's said either lloyds pharmacy if you have one, or gp and get it checked out, its not so bad, as i have a relative that was told 5 years ago he was diabetic, had blackouts, thirsty etc, he went diet controlled, and was told max 6 mths and he'd be on tablets, but 5 years on, he still the same, and just watches what he eats, i'd tell your parents, if anything to stop them from worrying dont think they'd like to find out at a later date and they didnt know, but get checked out first and take it from there, hope all goes well

Im thinking diabetic too... The supermarkets sell testing strips that you piss on, dont know how accurate but prob worth a pop.
N.b. any opinitons expressed above should be ignored and considered 'ramblings', under no circumstances should they be relied upon...
