    Two different set of alloys..

Just to double check before I go driving around.

Am I ok to drive around with 17" wheels on the front and 15" on the back.

I have ordered some replacment tyres but going to take a few days to be delivered.

Legally will I be ok? Fronts both have even tred/size
    Back also is same size

yes thats fine, need to be the same on each axle and they are, but may draw undue attention from the rozzers if the see it so be prepared for having your treads, lights, insurance on any mods etc checked.

N.b. My sig... Lol... No I'm sure you'll be ok, the rule is based on putting undue stress on the diff if two different sizes are used so as long as on different axles youre ok.

I would put the bigger wheels on the front, as I know that is 100% legal, just look at hot rod set ups. but am quite sure it's illegal to do it the other way round.

you can put them any way you want to, as long as same size tyres on opposite sides of the same axle. I ran 13s on the back of my Mk3 (15s on the front) for about two months while I was refurbing my alloys one at a time. it went through an MOT with them and me being pulled once for a brake light being out (which I tapped and made come on again, incidently).
    NOW - Sapphire Black 3dr Astra G

    THEN - Glacier White 2.0Di Estate - 136bhp 1.6 Pineapple Yellow Mk3 - Flame Red 2.0Di Van - Chianti Red 1.8 Coupe - Star Silver 2.2 Zafira - Flame Red 2.2 Linea Rossa Coupe - Titan Gold 1.8 Coupe

Actually if i remember it is illegal to have wider tyres on the front then the rear, im a tyre fitter by tread and im sure thats illegal. The 17s will have to go on the back as im guessing theirl be a 205/215 unless the 15's are also 205/215 wide then it can go any way round
