    Chipping 1.9 sri150 - insurance problem

    Hello,

I'd made my mind up to chip my Mk5 diesel Astra but when I rang Hastings Direct they said they would not cover me. Looked on Compare the Market and the cheapest quote I could find with an engine mod was £610, about £200 more than the factory set version. For those of you who have fitted a diesel tuning box, does that sound about right? If you have been quoted less than that can you tell me who it is with?

Does being a fully paid up member on here entitle you to discounted car insurance?

I know I could just buy the chip and not upgrade my cover but knowing my luck I'd be left high and dry.

    Thanks,

    Rich

Update - the car is broken - either alternator or battery so I think I'll leave it the way it is.
