Check for bearing noise coming from the front hubs when driving and turning!
Also check for any hesitating before turbo comes in or during boost!
Check for rocker cover oil leaks
Check for breather pipe oil leaks
Check for worn ball joints by jacking wheel up and checking to see if any play in wheel itself.
try the pedal test to see if there has been any fault codes stored in the past that have not been removed.
Check to see if the airbox has been destricted and if not get it done as its easy to do.
Check the oil colour on the dipstick to see if its has been changed recently as you dont want it like tar.
Check to see if the timeing belt and water pump has been changed in the past 40,000 miles or 4 years.
The timing belt check is very important
Thats all i can think of at the moment

I did the cambelt on my old 2.0 16v Ecotec MK3. Is the GSi a similar layout and the same torque settings. Thought I read somewhere that the engines were similar apart from the turbo...

    Cheers, Bri

Do you need to remove the engine mount to get the belt on and off?
