Smile error code 1405 problem, any info will help

hey guys I have a brand new egr valve fitted but i still have the error code 1405 coming up through the eml.

Is there possibly something wrong with the egr valve??? or can the wiring for the egr be damaged somewhere down the line?? Is there any hot spots to where they can break within the wiring, say maybe in the main egr connector on the top?

any info will help thanks guys

one of my mate has just said that when you have fitted a new egr that the ecu needs to be realigned, is this true???

Don't suppose you fitted a cheapy eBay one?

Stored codes hang around for a fixed amount of time until the ECU has no more reports of it then clears the management light.

If you bought anything other than a Delphi branded EGR valve then it could well be the new EGR at fault, I tried a cheaper eBay one (as have many others here) and mine threw the EML on within 2 days of fitting. Sent it back, paid a few quid more for a Delphi one and voila

Think mine ended up £65 delivered via eBay for a Z16XE with a new gasket too. Disconnect the battery for 30 mins or so, that will reset the ECU - if the EML comes back on then I'd be looking to send the EGR back and getting a Delphi one.

It resets the ECU which puts it back to how it was when shipped from the factory (unless it's been remapped but I doubt yours has!).
