    Fishing noob

My brother in law is newly single and wants to take me fishing.

I fished when I was a kid and had some rod's given to me but I have no other equipment.

Where do I start?? Want to spend less than £50 on all the bits but I went into a fishing shop local to me and I would of needed to sell my wife to get kitted up in there!!

    Cheers in advance
Everything I do has total support of my wife ...... which is nice!

check out ebay for local sales some bargains can be had as rods and stuff are a bugger to post so most are collection only which obviously limits the buyers a little.

i buy most of my tackle from ebay and all depends what your fishing for! the likes of floats, weights, hooks, spinners and lures ect its best to buy as cheap as possible as you will more than likely get snagged on weeds or submerged branches and lose the them!

carp seems to be the most expensive to get kitted up for as some specialist tackle is needed!

i do a bit of coarse fishing but mainly go for pike and the tackle is cheap as chips on ebay but stay away from the chinese sellers as you probably wont recieve what you paid for! i have 9 paypal disputes ongoing due to them!

    hope this helps a bit!

like the others have said ebay are ok, although it does depend on what you need and what kinda fishing your going to do?

i'm guessing by your post you'd need a reel, now these can be had for a tenner if you look in the right places, just be carefull on the size if your only going for small fish etc

100m of line can be had for a couple of quid

you'd need a couple of bank sticks with a rod rest, could cost you a tenner for a couple of sticks and rests...

small landing net and pole i's say 20 quid should get you one...

    hooks are £1 a pack

    floats are pence...

swimfeeders are 60p each in my local

thats all you need there to go fishing.. bait wise

1kg of groundbait is anything from 1.99 to 3.99

sweetcorn is pence from tesco etc

maggots ate 1.60 a pint ish

worms are free if you dig them up, or 1.30 for a tub ish...

thats just the set up lol, not to mention the bivvy/bedchair/sleeping bag/rod bag/ carryalls and all that shiz!

i spent more money on my fishing stuff over the last 3 years than i spent buying my SRI-T lol

trouble with fishing gear is that its expensive when you start and buy new but if you ever give up and want to sell your lucky to get anything for it. Thats why I just kept all my gear might pick it up again one day.

What sort of fishing? not this sat out a side of a riverbank? I would just chuck my self in after an hour....
Or sea fishing? at least you can pull something in every 10-20 mins... have a beer, move spots if nothings about.... and eat it as well?!?!?!?
No need for silly floats, maggots eat.... catch mackerel on the way out on feathers for bait........ easy peasey
