The best you can afford, it really does help the carpet last longer. We put the second to top down in our living room and they reckoned it would do 10 years. We changed the carpet after 5 years and it was still fine, however the cheap stuff down under the stair carpet which was there when we bought the house was knackered after only 4 years.

Cloud 9 = market leader and with good reason.

I only fit the following Cloud 9 products

Cumulus (11mm thick - high end domestic)
super Contract (10mm - high end commercial)

If you wanted something cheaper Cirrus (8mm) is ok. Dont go near the rest of there ranges though as there are better companies for the lower end of the market.

You will not buy better even though the traditionalists will push you down 52oz felt or Axfellt route (rubber crumb with felt top). Also stay away from rubber underlay - its had its day, its expensive and doesnt last.

I put down (not personally) Cloud 9 Cumulus throughout my house, the carpet fitter had a whinge about the gripper though, think i might have needed thicker stuff?

but he did say it was really good underlay
