    GSi - VXR Turbo upgrade?

so am i right in thinkin to upgrade from stanard GSi turbo to VXR turbo all i need is to order the turbo and kit from auto vaux? is there anything else i would need?

what is this oil restrictor bolt i have read about which seems to be a must for vxr turbos?

i also read that you needed to remap the car once you had fitted one?

just outta curiousity why is there so many of them ****in up after only couple thousand miles??

theres a full fitting kit aswell ie gaskets ect thay no wot u need i got it and i love it now. mines bin on for 4000miles and not 1 problem.
aswell yes you do need a remap coz when u fit it ur boost is runnin at round 26psi and it eats fuel. good look pal hope u get it all sorted
vxr turbo, FMIC, TX tophat and powerpipe and remap from noblemotersport. 271.5 bhp and 331 lbft. http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...d.php?t=332537

It doesnt need mapping in just actuator adjustment. Having a boost gauge will help get the correct settings

Don't need a map for the vxr turbo.

as said just an actuator adjustment. I will also be looking to invest in one as i either have a snapped manifold stud or a crack. can hear it blowing. even if it isn't i will still be buying one when a decent deal comes up. Always good to have one backup if you can afford it. As if it goes bang and you can't source one you will have to pay full whack for it.

and what about this restrictor bolt ive read about? is that not needed or what?

it seems like autovaux seem to have the best deal! if this is all you need? less than £500 for turbo and fitting kit? seems good?

The restrictor bolt is a bit of a debate on here.

Some people swear by them, others have had an almost new turbo go bang within a few thousand miles and were using them.

I am of the opinion that it never came with one from factory, so i won't be fitting it. if it were necessary a recall would have been done or supplied with the new turbo as standard.
