Geoff's flatblade wiper mod how to?

I've just spent 10mins or so using the search engine & can't find it.

IIRC it seemed easier than Chris' method. Maybe i'm wrong as it's been a while since i've seen both.

I just can't find the how to at all, as i was considering having a crack at front & rear.

Whilst i'm at it, for anyone who's done it, how much does the mod cost all in?

    Cheers for the linkup pal

Aye i remember he used some blue peter aluminium washers or something like that which he got from his work IIRC?? I may be wrong. From memory, Geoff's way seemed easier.

Time to find out anyway *opens link*

Geoff's involves cutting your old wiper arms to bits, filing down the MK5 wipers and sticking things together. Mine is perhaps a simpler option needing only some 1-2mm thick aluminium strip wound around the motor spline, push the MK5 wiper over the top and bolt down, job done. Not fallen apart or even slipped in tens of thousands of miles now. Plus you don't need to knacker you're MK4 wipers just incase the MK5 mod goes wrong...

I don't have any aluminium strips, or know where to purchase them from. LoL.

Just eBayed "Astra MK5 wiper" & there's no arms & it's difficult for me to get to a scrappies due to work hours.

Where can you get the strips suitable for the job? & don't say work

Cut from aluminium sheet, I'd guess B&Q etc would have this.

I went through every listing for MK5 wipers. Hmm. Never saw that one.

Will search B&Q website & see what we can do.

    Bugger, there's that many listings.

You've done this before Chris, which sheet is closest to what you used: http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.js...start_index=10

    None of them

Just need some 1-2mm thick aluminium from anywhere.

Haha, i can't get my hands on any.

I could aquire some lead, but that's probably about it & that's unrealistic lol.

Geoff's method could be getting tested out then. I was reading measorpauls method of welding arms etc.

My wipers are irritating me. Poor wipage & sounds like the glass is being scratched although it isn't.
