    Sudden loss of power!

Well on my drive back from work, my car out of the blue felt like something was pulling it back and was much less responsive...2 mins after that whilst stopped at a junction all the ignition lights went on and the car turned off!

I've just had a new cambelt kit fitted 2 weeks ago.

    I drive a MK4 Astra 1.6i SXI 16V

    Any ideas anyone?

    Cheers

Hi nry...I had a new egr valve about a year ago and it did start 'reasonably' well after. Just taken it out again now and it just doesn't feel the same, it's a bit of the sluggish side. Maybe the egr just needs a bit of a clean - apparently it was filthy. The car does get a beasting cause I'm a driving instructor - poor car!

B1988m: The PAS was working fine when the car was running.

Thanks for you input people, much appreciated.

Have you got the fault light up on the dash.
I had a simular problem when I had a 1.6 Astra, suddenly lost some power and the light came up on the dash.

Turns out it was the coil pack, lucky it was under warranty

Hi there, I've not had a single fault light on it....I've taken it out today and it's not done the same but it still doesn't feel right.
I'll get a tech 2 diagnostic done on it, when I can find a garage who will do it for a non-rip off price!

Well after doing some research I thought I'd give some injector cleaning fluid a go....added it to a full tank a couple of days ago and magic, it's running so much better. I'll still get a diagnostic done on it just in case
