1.7 diesel cdti 05 plate growling after stall

    Hiya,

Sorry, this is my first message on here and first question.

Last night, my diesel Astra SRI CDTi stalled at a set of traffic lights. I restarted the engine but the engine has suddenly developed a very throaty growl. The engine is fine when it's at idle but growls very loudly when accelerating. There doesn't seem to be any loss of power, but it seems quite rough.

Before this, the engine has seemed to hesitate at about 2000 rpm. I doubt this is connected though since a friend with a 1.3 diesel Astra seems to have that problem as well.

Any ideas what might have caused the sudden growl?

    Thanks in advance
    Steve

Turns out the growl was caused by the front and back engine mountings having broken - the back one has sheared in half and the bush on the front one has broken.
The Vauxhall dealership that's supplying the new ones reckon that they have never sold any before. They have now!
