    Unhappy my air con is not working help!

    Hi
    My air conditioning is not workingn on my 2001 mk4 astra Ls.

    When I press the AC button the light comes on but no cold air comes out.
    Also the engine dose revs don't change.

    Any ideas wuats up and how I go about fixing it ?

    I have exactly the same problem on my 2001 dti ls aswell, I was thinking about checking out the switch but as yet I havnt got round to it.

    sounds like u need to get it re gassed any local garage should be able to do it mate for around £40

    Low pressure seems to be the most common reason. Kwikfit will regas it for you for £45 but dont charge if its not cooler than before.

    As above - if the gas pressure is too low the aircon pump won't come on to save damage. The coolant contains a lubricant and it is advisable to run the aircon for 5 mins or so per week even when it isn't needed to keep the system in good condition.

    Any reputable aircon service will involve a full pressure/leak test and will only refil the system if there is no leak.

    i had exactly the same and it ended up being my air con radiator had corroded at the bottom where the fan sits, so be worth having a check there also.it cost me £40 for another unit from astraparts.co.uk

    Same as just when you need it it doesnt work, mines the compressor as i made up a harness to plug from my vectra to my astra and visa versa, when pluged from my astra harness to my vectra pump it switched it on but when going from the vectra to the astra pump it didnt switch on, now ive got to get the it de gassed

    In my case it was the clutch coil (common problem in astra 2001) in which I had to replace the open circuit thermal fuse (1A 186degC rating very rare. ended up using a 226degC thermal fuse with higher Amp).

    It's no charge if it's less than 10% cooler than before, last time I checked.
