    What is needed for 450+BHP?

Hello people of AOC. My SRi-T is running rough and going to Gareth the Astra guru to have a tune up etc...

Now after speaking to him about achieving my 280BHP goal I am curious to see what I'd need for like 450BHP+

I want 0-60 in 4 secs or so and a ridiculous 160+++ top speed.

Is this actually possible and what would i need to do?

    Thanks, Joe.

got a spare 10k lying about? 450bhp+ is going to be mega costly, even if you are doing the work yourself parts will be expensive.

you aint running that power on standard internals or turbo so you would need new pistons and rods possibly a new crank. you wont get standard or vxr turbo to give that kind of power either so you would be needing to source a manifold that allows you to fit a different turbo.

also 4 second 0-60 in a fwd car with that power. you might be able to get the speedo to get to 60 in that time but the car wont be going at that speed. trying to get the grip down with that kind of power in a front wheel drive car will be bloody difficult.

What is the point then, I've seen astra turbo's with 400BHP+ theres one on youtube with like 512BHP its an animal.

What sort of performance could I realistically expect then?

320bhp tops on warm dry day with some semi slicks. add a diff and some tration/launch control systems and some awesome ability to launch a car perfectly of the line then go for 400+ but as said 0-60 youll prob get beat by standard z20let as youll be sitting at the line spinning

bragging rights is all it is in my opinion mate, a fwd car with that kind of power would be horrible to drive as it would just want to spin up the wheels and understeer all the time.

best thing for you to do is mod the car a bit at a time till it gets to a point where you think right thats enough any more power would be a waste.

i would love to go mental on mine and replace everything for uprated bits and build a monster as i have the tools and 12 years experience in the motor trade behind me that i could do virtualy everything myself bar remap but there comes a point in a front wheel drive car that more power and torque is just wasted through lack of ability to get the power onto the road.

yeah it would be nice to say i have a 4-500bhp monster sitting in my garage but that would probably be where it would spend most of its time as it wouldnt be enjoyable to drive with that kind of power.

my advice would be do the initial mods that you are thinking about, forget about power figures and just get the car driving in a way that you are happy with. also if your looking for performance its torque that your wanting to gain as thats what turns the wheels, power is just an ego thing. you want more torque for longer in the rev range.

400bhp will be circa £8000 plus suspension, brakes and launch control on top, you could see sub 5's to 60
