Where the hell is this oil coming from?

I assumed it was the oil breather pipe or the gasket. I had the pipe off tonight and it all looks fine, gaskets in good condition and the bolts seem to tighten up fine. Cleaned it up and drove less than a mile, and it was like this again.

It doesn't seem to be a great deal of oil loss cause the dipstick level isn't moving but on long journeys it covers the bottom of the car and burns off the exhaust. Stinks!! Give me ideas please guys?

put a new gasket on anyway.have you put any pressure on the pipe itself as i done that a while back taking the hose off the top,and it started leaking instantly..worth a try.

Do you mean put pressure on it to check it, or do you mean have i maybe damaged it by putting pressure on it?
I'm going for a gasket in the morning so i can rule it out.

yeh,any reasonable force on the pipe(front/back/ movement)will make it leak..as it only has 2 bolts..if it had 4 bolts it would be solid if you no what i mean...

There may have been some movement when i had the turbo off.

I'll do the gasket and see. If the flange bit has bent slightly would it be an idea to put 2 gaskets in? If i try and flatten it out i might make it worse?

just use some silicon sealant and the gasket and youll be fine

ive fitted studs and nuts in place of the bolts used to fix the breather onto the block, makes things so much easier when refitting and much easier to fit nuts than lining up the bolts.

Old exhaust studs are ideal if u have any

not relevant but thought its worth mentioning for anyone reading this

Hi Just a note if i were you i would inspect inside the breather pipe it could well be choked up , and buildig up a lot of pressure,
They have a tendancy to fill with gunk
