Is it worth getting new injectors?

I have a 2.0DTI Astra thats done 140k miles. The clutch is now biting right at the top of the pedal stroke so I'm thinking about having it replaced. Whilst it is in the garage is it worth having the injectors replaced too?

    Hi there,

Why would you want to replace your injectors? Do you think they are causing some problem? If so maybe they can be serviced by a diesel specialist cheaper than installing new ones.

I'm not familiar with the injectors on that engine but maybe they just need cleaning and spray pattern checked in a spray booth, maybe new nozzles or shims or whatever it is they do with them. I think at least for some a rebuild can often be the far cheaper option than buying new injectors. Probably worth making a couple of calls to diesel specialists in your area to get specific info about your injectors and some quotes for servicing.

    Cheers, Paul

p.s. I did a quick look around on the web and saw some new injectors on eBay UK for 110 pounds each, older posts on eBay elsewhere (like germany or whatever) about 90 euros each. Maybe you can find them cheaper elsewhere...

    Fault Codes

I did a pedal test, & I got 'ECN050074', (P0500). The only problem is which of the below fault codes is it?

P0500 Vehicle Speed Signal not plausible with Engine Speed and Injection Mass B-031
P0500 Vehicle Speed Signal Range/Performance ABS/TC/ESP (Vehicle Dynamic System) B-011

I have a 55 Plate 1.7 cdti Club, any help would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't bother the injectors on that engine are under the cam so it needs to be removed to service them high labour cost for no gain i know a 2.0 dti that has done 180k with no injector problems.
Its normally the seals on the top of the injectors thats go

Sorry pal, I've never been on a forum, Before I start the car, I wait for the glow plug light to go out, the car still slightly struggles to start up as it should. I did the pedal test to see if their were any 'hypothetical' faults, I'm assuming the whole point of a pedal test is that it shows any issues with the car. However judging by reading the coding list, I don't think it'll relate to the above issue. On a completely differently topic, should I get my EGR valves cleaned? Does it make any difference to do so? Even if th cars working fine.

Doubt that will effect your problems you should start a new thread though rather than hopping on others. The fault code you have is to do with the sensor on the wheel which detects wheel speed. Does it start any better if you go through the glow plug cycle twice?

quite possible the above fault codes are not present and never been cleared

is it a 2.0dti by any chance? sounds like the injector seals are getting ready for changing common fault

Apologies for the late reply, and again apologies posting 'willy nilly' on people's threads. I've never been on a forum before.

Faulty sensor detecting the wheel speed possibly, mm? I'll get that checked out, in regards to the glow plugs, the answers yes, 7/10 the starts straight away after the first if ignition (once the glow plug light has gone off). I'm just wondering due to wear & tear, if they ever eventually ever need replacing. In regards to the EGR Valves is it something worthwhile doing, considering the mileage on the car? Thanks.

Sounds like could be a glow plug issue then as they do eventually wear out. As for EGR valve there is no harm in getting it cleaned but it can also make problems by having in done due to the fact it could be jammed closed with much rather than when is cleaned could be sticky.
