    Oil additives

    any recomendations?

    a few people have said their worth putting in, just wondering if anyone has used them in the past?

    First of all........ why ?


    Theres a reason ppl use additives - ie an underlying problem which they're usually trying to mask before taking the engine apart for instance.

    ie - tappety top end - before replacing lifters, they might try some additive that reduces the noise.

    Other additives have other uses

    OR

    did u mean an additive to add to the oil before u drain it? to help flush out some of the crap?

    personally i would stay clear of these especially if u dont know the history of the car. sometimes these can remove deposits that are actually plugging very fine holes for instance. if it aint broke dont fix it etc...

    if u want a good oil flush... then drain the oil as normal, fit a new filter, fill up with new oil - cheap stuff if u can - drive it for a few miles or so get it up to temp, then drop it again, and fill with good oil and another new filter.

    Ive been told the z20lets need flushed during an oil change? no?

    NO they dont "need" it at all


    some do use it but most ppl dont for the reasons i gave above
