I am a newbie to Vauxhall, been strictly a Ford man until now , but am looking to change my current Focus and Puma to a 'Current' (mk2?) Zafira and a Sporthatch over the next 6 months (Zaf first, Astra later).
I ideally want both in 1.9 CDTi 150 SRi trim, but have a couple of concerns...
- How can I tell the difference between a 120 and 150 engine? I went to a main dealer to test drive a Zaf yesterday, specifically telling them I wanted a 150. Whilst driving I was very unimpressed with the power. Upon a bit further investigation the model I test drove was an 'Energy', which according to Parkers was only available with a 120 engine and manual gearbox?
- Also, the salesman worried me a little by saying the DPF is very problematic on the CDTi engines? She said it needs a 20 minute run at a steady 50 miles an hour once a month, and to cover a minimum of 12k a year or else the DPF will get clogged and lead to major problems? A warning like this from a main dealer made me a little worried! The Astra will be doing up to 20k a year but the Zaf probably only 8-10k. I was looking for a lowish mileage Sporthatch but an now thinking average/high mileage may actually be better?
Sorry for waffling on a bit there... Anything else I need to look out for on these engines?
