Come on then - the magical 300BHP?

    Right,

standard 2002 coupe turbo at the moment, and want 300BHP.

So... after lots of reading I will be ordering the following -

    VXR Turbo
    VXR Injectors / Fuel rail
    VXR AFM
1.9 CDTI Airbox with revised pipework
    Milltek Pre-cat decat
    Milltek Cat-Back system
    TX Autosport FMIC (57mm)

So now comes the mapping, after much reading I decided to ring Red.Dot to see whats what and asked how they seem to get good power with lower boost than expected???

I asked, he said they don't touch cam angle, just ignition timing, fuel, little bit of boost etc - a little bit vague really but I still want to go to them for custom tuning at reasonable cost.

He also said they see cars with same mods as listed above but variation between cars from 275BHP to 300+BHP!!!

I explained mine will be a good one with all brand new mods, engine out for full-decoke, clean up (replace if needs be) valves etc and he said we should be okay to hit the 300BHP I want.

So who is running a "true" 300BHP with similar mods and at what PSI are you running?

I told the guy on the phone I want boosting up, if it all goes bang I will take the heat, I just can't see how they are making the claimed figures on low boost numbers 14psi etc???

    Help people please

the low boosting is to do with the proggresion of the map as opposed to the regal/courtenay generics that use over 22psi to get the same figures but boost drops earlier in the revs so it like no boost, then wads of it all at once then game over at under 5000rpm so bit pointless for road use really. i know im running 14psi @288bhp and thatsd with red dot, going back soon for lil bit more boost around 20psi to get past 300 bhp just waiting to get valve seals done 1st

Any particular fuel pump the "go for" choice?

Yeah looked at the cams regal do, wouldn't mind some higher lift and longer duration but is it safe on standard internals?

Yeah I still don't quite grasp it though, I mean I know torque X RPM = Power, however I have had some experiences in the past with roller dyno's they are so easy to fabricate numbers on (just up intake temps for starters) and I am not making any accusations towards Red.Dot I just want to be sure I'm making proper numbers as I will recheck on a hub-dyno I know.

Id get one from either courtenays or regal.

The x20xev cam is alot cheaper but needs to be fitted one tooth back but the regal one can be fitted as it comes but you pay the price for it.

The regal cam (i think) keeps the valves open for alittle longer and is fine to run on standard set up.

Can I also ask, what bits need to be mapped in?

Can I fit the above then drive to reddot and then have full map, or do certain things (I'm thinking injectors) need to be mapped to run on the LET.
