    Astra 888 track car

well after buying the car like this i had my work cut out....

car needs some major tlc front bumpers held on with wood and cable ties... i shit you not! interior isnt great and the engine had done 94k but on the plus side it had a 1k on vxr turbo and sports cat/down pipe.

well picked the car up all was ok decided to get on and fit the tx intercooler kit i'd ordered allong with the KN filter and strip the car down to loose some weight!!

as you can see the wheels are silver/blue shocking and need urgent attention.

now at this point i thought lets have a go with a KMP2000 and try a remap.... well i didnt check the actuator that the last owner must have wound right up!

It went well for about 2 minutes then the little end let go it seems
trying to decide what the issue was i purchased new sensors, checked compression and also changed the lifters to no avail.

decided to purchase a fresh engine and get a mates garage to fit ''RawMotorsport'' plug done!!

    -50k engine fitted
    -new gaskets all round
    -rear brakes replaced and painted
    -interior stripped
    -sports clutch fitted
    -Wheels refurbed black
    -NGK iridiums fitted
    -KnN fitted
    -New Crank sensor
    -Boost gauge fitted

    -------

    Little update

New Engine is in and fitted running perfect! boosting to a whole 9psi . Fitted by me mate at his garage ''RAW Motorsport'' so if anyones in southampton and needs motorsport preping or any car work give Rob a call. ok the plugs out the way now lol.

uprated clutch working a dream and new discs and pads to the rear.
AEM AFR Wideband is on order and i'm trying to decided whether to diy map again or take it to regal!!

whilst checking everything i think i've realised why the car popped the actuator was wound right up to say 16turns on the new vxr turbo. when it should have been mre like 3-4 turns showing so it ran a shite load more boost than it should DOH

looking to get a cage and uprate the brakes then we're going to attack Combe asap

    pics to follow

    shes getting there now!!

booked into regal Wednesday for a PH3 remap allong with a rolling road setup and run

AEM AFR on order so i can monitor the car and i should have that fitted for the weekend

    Cheers Crowds.

It is disappointing to find that someone would leave a 888 to get in a right state where bits were being held on with wood etc. But atleast its got a loving home now,and is looking in rude health,as it should.

Considering the short 'heritage' of the 888 coupe, then stripping it and prepping it for track action is absolutely the right thing to do.

Back to the heart and reason it was built.

Finally someone doing a 888 as it should be, some have come close but far to many people put these cars on a pedestal. Looking forward to the updates - cool car
