Boot cover and rear chrome strip

I want to spray the rear chrome strip at the back of the car were it says "1.9cdti"
Do i just need to primer it and spray it? or is there anything else i need to do since its in chrome?
And does anybody know how to open the cover at the back of the boot to get to the back of the strip to take it off?
    Thanks

In terms of de-chroming to make it last the best way is to scratch the chrome with fine sandpaper and use an undercoat of etch primer to bite into the chrome, then paint.

I don't own a Zaf B so I can't help you with the rear strip part.
It shouldn't be hard to remove.

1- rub the chrome down with wet & dry course grain
2- after, smooth off the a nice finish
3- coat with plastic primer as is plastic but chrome finished
4- spray with your chosen colour
    5- clear laquer

job done, dont forget to allow for prep time and drying time. hth
