    Engine problem

    Hello folks,

My first post on here so bear with me if I omit any information that is relevant. I'm going down the route of sourcing the cumulative knowledge of those in the know before a mechanic can empty my wallet.

The car is a 2004 Astra Mark V Elite with a 1.6 litre petrol engine.

Coming home from work yesterday I noticed that the orange engine light was flashing. The car felt like that it was juttering slightly - almost as if the engine was interrupted from transferring power to the wheels - under acceleration, and the light flashed only when the accelerator was applied. I could take my foot off the gas and everything worked as normal, or at least the light went off. The engine sounds a little deeper and feels a little sluggish when pulling away from standing.

Just wondering if anyone else had had the same problem. I've checked the oil but truth be told I can't find the markers on the dipstick to determine the oil level. I realise that this makes me an utter noob, but best to be honest, eh?

    Thanks!

Limp Home Mode is likely set hence the dash light being on. You may be able to use the pedal test to pinpoint any problems but depends on the cause of the problem:

Thanks for that nry. I performed that test and got four different readings.

I got four ECN codes and the flashes seemed to be four digit representations of these six digit numbers.

    ECN : 130000 - 161450 - 161600 - 000000
    Flashes : 1300 - 1614 - 1616 - Nothing

This suggests that the issue is a 'P1300 Boost Calibration Fault' and issues with the immobiliser, according to http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...d.php?t=171033.

Would people agree, and what is the best way to resolve the problem?

Also found http://www.obdii.com/codes.asp is the code centre for the GM on board diagnostic tool. That gives a little more detail on fault codes.
