    emissions light on!!!!

hi, i have aquired a slight problem with my gsi zafira. the emissions light has come on for a third time, it does'nt flash , just stays on. first time it did it was when the turbo was on its way out, have since had a new turbo put on, all was fine for about a week, then the light came back on, booked it in at the dealers, the day it was due to go in the light went off, they plugged it onto the laptop , but didnt get any fault codes !!!!!! was ok for a while, but its came back on again, have done the pedal test and the code P0170 has come up, any ideas as to what could be causing this problem, it seems to run ok, still pulls well enough, but occasionally just seems to cough on tickover, any help would be greatly received, cheers steve...

cheers for that, where abouts is the egr valve on the gsi?? I have taken the intercooler pipe off that goes to the tophat today, and there seems to be an excessive amount of oil in the pipe, im thinking that the dealer did'nt clean the pipes out when they replaced the turbo, thus causing oil to still be burnt and clog up the sensors!!!!!!

oil is normal in the pipes on gsi to intercooler, shouldnt be excessive thou. if is get that looked at or do the oil restrictor mod. and e.g.r & throttle body get em checked or cleaned 1st before making any decisions

0170 could be your Air flow meter take it off and look inside it to see if its clean or not.., check that the wiring plug is plugged in ok too..

Solved this on the sons astra gsi by fitting a new o2 sensor (the first one) in the front downpipe or precat if you still have one fitted ..
re oil in pipes , undo the bottom hose on intercooler to see if any oil comes out..should be none..
do you know any one with a z20let engine that you could try there bits to eliminate faults..

its ok, got it sorted, was a dodgy connection on the o2 sensor, checked with the garage and they have cleaned out all the intercooler pipes when it was in for the new turbo, the oil in the pipes isnt excessive, it does'nt smoke, so it must be ok... I've got the oil restictor, just havent got round to fitting it yet!!!! thanks for all your help..

I know you have sorted the car, but your engine does not have a egr valve, So dont waste your time looking for one its only the non turbo vauxhall engines that have them.
