Any One On Dialysis On Here?

I was wondering if any of you guys on here has chronic kidney disease that requires dialysis?

My partner has been on peritoneal dialysis for just over a week now it's not actualy that bad just time consuming having to do it 4 times a day 30-60 minutes at a time.

I know this isn't the nicest thread ever but just wondered?

Sorry to hear that, not nice for anyone...

My cousin had to have dialysis, thankfully he got a donor and is now living well.
Got the new kidney within the year, so there is hope ...

Shame his wife threw a fit and does'nt allow him top s[peak to the family anymore though

A donor is what were aiming for and going to get tested to see if i a match when she gets on the list.

TBH the dialysis isnt that bad once you get into a routine.

My mother will be on one of them machines in the near future, but doctors are waiting untill things get a little worse before putting her on it.

Maybe a bit personal but is the machine actually quite big at all? Because apparently when my mum is put on hers its meant to be set up in our living room.

Ruption sorry to hear that mate. It's the same thing that hapend to my mrs. Her kidney function droped and we were waiting on a phone call the same week as Christmas to see wether she was going to have to go in for an emergency operation but lucky everything stayed just above border line.

Is your mum going to be having peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis?

My mrs is on peritoneal so it's done via a catheter in the stomach and can be done at home from the start

Hemo though is through a fistula in the arm and is done at hospital

I used to work with patients who's main treatment was dialysis. Some of the machines in hospital are incredibly scary to look at.. and when they're running they can make you quite queasy being an onlooker. It's not something I'd wish on my worst enemy - I hope your other half finds a suitable donor quickly

Hopefully me mate once she's on the list I can go and take the tests to see if I'm compatible.

The one at hospital is hemodialysis and is alot worse that my partner has but is just a different way to do it.
