Hello, Im Adam from Cornwall and recently signed up on here so thought I would get a project thread on the go as Ive done a few bits since I bought the car in September 2009 all the way until now, and there is soo much more to be done so will update this as often as I can.
Ok so first things first, I bought the car locally in September 2009, usual Gsi spec with aircon/climate control, 4 new Falken tyres, Eibach Springs, Scorpion backbox, Pro tinted windows, FVSH and plenty of tax and test.
So first thing I did was fit some new audio bits, I stuck with the Vibe stuff as Im happy with it and has served me well with previous cars.
The dash has been repaired since that picture was taken, one of the previous owners had made a hash of removing the old headunit.
Next step was to get a decent alarm unit fitted.
And £350 later I had a Clifford kit fitted, and very happy with it
Gave it its first proper valet and took some arty pictures.
So onto the modifying..
Some UK font pressed plates
Next up a Boost and volt gauge
Then in time for servicing, so ordered all GM bits and performance parts.
And whilst I was at it I replaced the rocker cover gasket and gave the rocker cover a lick of paint.
And whilst I had the wheels off I also gave the calipers a lick of Halfords blue caliper paint.
Spotted a few people having the front number plated recess painted black so copied the idea using black vinyl.
And then it was finally time to have my wheels refurbed, borrowed my old mans veccy Gsi rims for the time being.
I was origionally going for a dark silver anthracite, but wanted a hint of difference, and that hint was a house of kolor purple added in to the mix, it was a risk but I love them, marmite for most people but Im very pleased with them.
So a few other little bits, every bulb at the front is now Xenon Ultra blue, and the rear number plate bulb is also now an Xenon LED.
So onto the performance goodies, my first aim is 280bhp to 300bhp with a torque figure to match, so best start off with the basics.
Cobrasport 2.5" pre-cat pipe.
Then onto a Cobrasport 2.5" cat back system with no centre silencer
And a few pictures of how the car stands at the minute
Im still very happy with it, had the front BCS replaced last month, and some young pup down there decided to take my car for a long drive and adjust the actuator without my approval, wasn't pleased as they wouldn't accept they did it and they wanted to charge me for a new Map sensor too, after some argueing and a loss of a customer I walked away without paying anything, and managed to fix the problem myself.
My belts, tensioners and waterpump are all due soon so will be getting that sorted before anything else, but do plan on a complete change of the engine bay styling, new suspension set up, paint work and best of all some more performance goodies, and hopefully some track time at Castle Combe in the near future!
Will keep you all up to date on my progress
