    Weird boost problem

Not sure if the title is 100% accurate tbh, but anyway.... When driving I noticed recently that it seems the turbo doesn't kick in until around 4k rpm Now the car has just had a new turbo put on it, at vauxhall under warrenty, i'm 99% sure before the car had this new turbo put on, it came on boost at around 3k rpm (does that sound about right?)

The turbo put on the car is from a mk5 sri turbo, not the vxr like most people put on....

Anyone got any idea what it could be?

Not sure what it could be but I would say Turbo should be hitting about 2.5-3k for sure! Actuator maybe? Have you checked to see that it's set up right? On the normal Z20LET and VXR turbo's there should be 3-4 threads showing so assuming it would be exactly the same on the turbo you have! Sure someone will advise if different though!

TBH, i know less about this engine than my previous 1.6 I'll check the actuator tomorrow after work now, if it isn't showing 3-4 threads, what would be best to do? mess with it myself or take it back to vaux?

There is a guide On here on how to set it but if they've set it wrong then in my opinion they should correct it anyway! As long as they don't try and charge you etc then may as well let them do it!

Bump, took a picture of the actuator, does it look as though it has been set up wrong? Baring in mind this turbo is off of a mk5 sri turbo or does the bolt sit in the same place no matter what turbo you use?

I think all turbo engine bar the vxrs have the same actuator setting but I'd say it's set wrong and needs adjustment. To do this wind both nuts out of the way so you can move the actuator by hand. Pull it up towards you to hold it shut and wind the lower nut up to it. Then put 1 full turn on the bottom nut and lower the top nut down and tighten

Cheers for the "how-to" but i'm going to take the car back to the garage, as if it is wrong and they have done it, they'll have to fix it, but if I mess with it and something goes wrong i'll have to pay.

    Thanks for the help anyway.

I'll be honest, it didn't look like it, but that never crossed my mind, going to the garage tomorow, and they are having a look for me...
