    newbie guide to machine polishing, plz help

    hi all i have just bought

    i know its cheap but will it be ok?

    i am wondering how do i compond my car to bring the paint back glossy and white.

    i have some g3 compound

    im unsure which head i use?(help needed there)

    also do i need to wet the mop head or wet the car?

    and what spped shall i set it too?

    its going to be my first time using it and dont want to burn paint off or mess the paint up

    First, I wouldn't be learning on your own car. A visit to www.detailingworld.co.uk is a good start, do some good thorough reading and research first, and then find a detailer who will give you a hands on lesson and/or let you watch a proper correction taking place as it isn't something you can learn from words alone, you have to see it all in action and learn the techniques.

    Once you've done some learning, then it's best to either start practising on an old panel from a scrapyard, or on a cheap runabout that no one cares about (eg mum's/grannie's/sister's beaten up old banger) to make sure you've got the knack as if you burn through on your own paint you are going to hate yourself, that and a respray is going to cost quite a bit!

    I'm sure Gaz or one of the other correction experts will be along shortly to offer some advice too
