how do you mean from a cabby?

have you upgraded your door speakers to components? and maybe added some rear 6x9s?

you have a 12" sub. what amp do you have powering this?

are your other speakers amped up?

6x9s wouldn't offer what he's looking for. 6x9s are IMO shite!

To get clear and crisp sound. Upgrade your front door speakers to a decent set of components, amp them, and sound proof the doors with plenty of Dynamat

i dont mind spending some money on it because its something i will enjoy for a long time (i hope)

any advice on what kind of speakers to look for? as in a minimum RMS?

i do agree though, 6x9's = waste of money. if you want bass, get subs. if you want sound, get quality speakers and amp them. if you want both, get both but just my opinion.

Have you still got the standard stereo fitted? Its shocking how much a headunit can change the quality of a sound system standard or aftermarket.

Any decent headunit should be running a minimum of 4x50watts with atleast 2 pre outs for amping your speakers if you ever wish to do so (required when building a reasonably powerful soundsystem).

Any questions PM me, iv built countless amounts of systems both big and small improvements.

Have a search online at anything you like the look of, then post it up on here for peoples views. More importantly what kind of ££££££ are you looking at spending as like most things when looking for quality it could be a bottomless pit. Set yourself a budget.

If you're serious about it, you want to be looking at the higher end of the market. brands such as JL Audio, Focal, Audison, Hertz, CDT Audio, Rainbow and even MTX. one of the biggest improvements to be made when amping up stuff is the RCAs. I wouldn't settle for anything less than Chord.
