Quick bit of help required, regarding suspension strut

    Aftrnoon ladies and gents,

just after a bit of advice really. At the moment my suspension is in bits as me and a mate are trying to fit some sportlines to my car. However, we've managed to get the strut off fine, and have compressed the spring, but are having major difficulty in removing the nut on the top of the strut, does anyone have any advice to get it off??

We've been using penetrating oil and a lot of pressure but it just won't give, any help much appreciated.

An air gun is generally the best option, or a suitably sized spanner whilst holding the strut at teh top (usually eitehr an Allen key of smaller spanner) You can hold the strut body itself with a couple of pairs of moel grops but ONLY if you are throwing it away as any damage to the strut will render it useless.

But as said, air gun is best... take the strut assembly down to a local fast fit centre or garage, I'm sure they'd happily buzz it off for you.

Cheers for the Advice Dave, after much cursing we finally managed to get it un-done. We took it to several garages including Kwik-Fit who told us they wouldn't touch it, typical!
Well worth the effort though. Once again, ta mate
