    correct coolant for astra mk4 1.6

    hi just bought a opel astra 1.6 mk4 3 door. can anyone tell me the correct coolant to put in? would be much appreciated as only running on water at the moment.

    thanks mate but the engine temperature is quite high when traveling at speed. so is there a specific coolant i could use instead of water?

    I get mine from vauxhall very cheap, it's pink all i can tell ya lol

    Water isn't fine, you need to add coolant to it with a 50-50 mix. (thank god it's warm out there)

    Also, anti-freeze is not just to protect from frost but also from corrosion of engine components.

    I believe OAT coolant is the best you can get.

    Join AOC, get trade club discount, buy coolant for £2 a litre, job done mixed 50/50 with water.

    As above, coolant helps cool the engine more efficiently and also prevent the coolant from freezing. The other major benefit is as above too, the coolant lubricates the water pump to keep it running well and significantly reduces corrosion in the cooling system.
