Main concern iv heard regarding them is the gearbox going. They have been known to blow the bearings out of the side of the box. It does seem to be a small minority but is something to keep in mind.

if i were after a diesel i'd personally get a seat leon FR TDI or a 2.2L civic type S.
i've always found vauxhall diesels to be a tad tractory sounding in comparison.

look out of the flaps in the inlet manifold breaking. costly job. main dealer part
dual mass flywheels can get noisey and need replacing. costly job and main dealer only parts i think?
egr valves and dpf's can fail but the 2 points above seem to be a regular occurance in our place

same gearbox as a VXR and i have only heard of 1 or 2 going, not bad considerings theres probably a good 20,000 of them out there.

they are a cracking engine. just make sure the swirl flaps have been changed to the revised ones.

and make sure you gte one with the exterior pack and the 18" wheels
