Checked the air intakes all good? Clean throttle body, filter and piping?

On the 1.4 mate it could well be the EGR Valve.

Causes lumpy idle and running poorly

Search for pedal testing, then you can read off your own fault codes

If yours is the Z16XE 1.4 16v with the electronic throttle, as oppsoe to the mechnical throttle, I would say that your throttle is playing up or needs cleaned along with all the breather pipes. The idle on the electronic throttle is controlled electronically, as the name suggests. If there is oil deposits built up it will not be able to adjust as it should causing the car to stall. Its a known problem on manu mechnical throttled cars that the Idle Control Valve can play up causing erratic revs or stalling.

Where abouts are you located? I have a spare that you can try out if required.

more likely to be the EGR valve

try cleanin it with petrol - along with the Throttle body (remove both from the car to clean)

better still get the car on live data - opcom software is good - ask in ur regional forum - EGR can be remotely tested to see if its causing problems and take it from there

    replacement EGR costs about £70

id happily do all the above if u were local for a good price but sadly not - thats why u need to ask locally
