How do you get a KICK before 2000 revs on a 1.7DTi?

You all know the score... the 1.7DTI turbo only kicks in after approx. 2000 revs.
So this engine is pretty dead before that.

I have mine remapped, but even then the remap is only really effective/noticable after 2000 revs.

Any ways of bringing this engine alive before 2000 revs???

Different remaps give different gains, it could well be that the remap you had wasnt the best. Theres not much else you do unfortunately.

How can a different remap allow the turbo to kick in sooner though??
My remap basically enhances the engine as it is - so the real beast is unleashed after the turbo kicks in. I'm happy with it, but I'm wondering if I can have more oomph before the turbo cuts in...if you catch my drift.

I have heard people say things like change the air intake to get more response from zero revs...how is this done?

It would be really hard to do anything to this as the 1.7 dti relies on the turbo to give it the kick so anything before that wouldnt really help.

Those mods may help responsiveness but wouldnt give it a kick in my eyes.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot.

I think you hit the nail on the head there.

    The key word is "responsiveness".

How to make the 1.7DTi "more responsive" pre-2000 revs?
I think my use of the word "kick" is misleading/confusing.

I know the 1.7 DTI's are around 75-80 bhp standard but what sort of power do they put out with a remap? I'll hopefully be getting and Astra van with this engine so was just wondering.

WOW! Hell of a gain for just a remap. Any idea what the company is?
