    Laptop problems

I'm having issues with my laptop at the moment which is a Acer Aspire5100 running XP MCE

When it goes into hibernation and then restarts the wireless network doesn't work and hangs.

Also when I switch it on from start i'll have it beep at me and get the following error messages
    ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI in slot 03
    Bus 06, Device:04, Function:00
    ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI in slot 03
    Bus 06, Device:04, Function:01
    ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI in slot 03
    Bus 06, Device:04, Function:02
    ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI in slot 03
    Bus 06, Device:04, Function:03
So far all i've done is update the wireless drivers

    Any idea's?

try rolling back the drivers for a start mate

My computer > right click > Properties > click one of the tabs (cant remember) > device manager > check for symbols with yellow exclamation marks next to them and let us know if there are any.

Is it internal Wireless ? Im assuming it is but thought would ask.

Quite evidently looks like a hardware conflict but im no expert

Yeah internal wireless which i'm using now. It will allow me to press F1 and start the computer and i'd say 50% of the time it boots up fine

No yellow exclamtion marks anywhere in device manager but when I have just seen is that the ethernet connection is in PCI slot 03 BUS 06 but Device 01

Known fault with these, will need to get a pro to look at it, it is a mainboard fault. You will find it get worse and the laptop will not start up at all, seen it a lot.

Surely there must be something he can do ? Even if it means re-installing the OS ?

If not, then how much for the old laptop lol

EDIT: Actually it is well and truly fubarred if the links i just looked at are right.

New motherboard seems to solve the issue but nothing else will.

No worries on not being able to help, I understand some things aren't fixable

Yep that was the link I looked at when I looked deeper into this problem when it was said it was common on these

Considering the laptops over 3 years old now i'd say there's no point fixing it

1 laptop has come up twice now though, whats anyones opinion on this? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/195968 also avaiable at Commets

I got a Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop from PCWorld at the beginning of May, £499. Love it, nice big 17inch screen, nice size hard drive, decent RAM, basically everything you could need/want ...

Thanks Mark but thats a little more than I want to spend, has a larger screen as i'm going to be after decent battery life and is a Dell that i'd like to steer clear off. Also thinking of steering clear of Acer's but there seems to be so many of them around

For now I think i'll leave this one switched on 24/7 lol

My Dad has an Acer notebook thingy, punny tiny little pathetic thing, but he likes it ... 9 hours battery life!

Quite a few people have said they would steer clear of Dell that I have spoken to since I have had it.

Ash has got a 5/6 year old Packard Bell laptop, has lasted well, and is still going, but the hard drive is only 40GB and has 192MB RAM, my photos along with iTunes actually took up 75% of the hardrive itself. Still, good laptop, runs alot quicker now I have cleared all of my crap off of it.
