    Brake Issues

Well, my car has been off the road now for 6 weeks with a brake problem.

Often when I clean the car, afterwards the brakes rub a bit (surface rust perhaps) and releasing the handbrake is often difficult (also happens in winter months with freezing temps). I drove down the road hoping they would release and they didn't.

I stopped and realised that the front nearside and rear offside brakes were jammed on. The brake force was enough for me to not be able to drive it afterwards. After an hour or so i managed to limp it to the garage. They have told me that my ABS 'brain' mechanical and electrical unit has had it and needs replacing.

I've now sourced the part and its going in to be repaired soon but I'm still not convinced thats the problem. Might it be the master cylinder spring not returning properly? Any other suggestions?

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Either the handbrake cable is shot or the rear calipers are sticking...what car is this on?

I would go towards abs unit or master is no working right. The reason i say this is you have problems with a wheel at oposite corners. The brake system is designed so o/s front and n/s rear work at the same time and the n/s front and o/s rear work togeather

Your caliper is sticking,ie; the caliper cylinder is semi seized, it needs freeing up or a new one
