    Breaking cars?

Why is it that almost every day now u see people breaking there cars.. especially turbos?

it makes me sad to see so many people take the easy option out and just go oh well.. **** it.. parts for sale!

what happend to having pride in ur car and the satisfaction of knowing that ur pride and joy has been returned to its former glory and then sold on so another person can enjoy it?

just seems now that as soon as someone gets the slightest issues with there car its up in the for sale section and 100's of parts are ripped off and sold...

is having the latest make and shape of car THAT important to people really?

general question by the way.. in no way a dig at anyone

^^ nearly all cars are John, not just turbos!

I've broken both my last two cars (well three if you count crashing the coupe as breaking it!) as quite frankly they were worth more to me that way. My old mk4 estate needed £400 worth of work to get through the MOT, so I spent the £400 on buying a mk3 and then got £750 through selling parts. After 18 months of the mk3 it's headgasket went, so rather than spending a couple of hundred quid on it doing that and replacing tyres I spent a little more on a coupe project, fixed that up and broke the mk3 for about £400 - £500 in parts & scrap.

purely economic sense Stu, surely as a scotsman you can appreciate that?!

As above. I know my car is worth more broken then it is whole.

If the car was standard it would be worth more selling as a runner. But most modified cars are worth more in bits.

There is a page in the new Total Vauxhall which highlights the number of Coupe turbos and GSI's left on the road, there is not that many, i do thinks its a shame, but some of the parts i have used on my car are from people breaking cars so in a way i cant complain lol.

sad fact is that the credit crunch has led to the higher numbers of cars being broken. used car prices have plummeted in the last year, I mean you can pick up a low mileage 2003 2.2 Coupe for £1500, or a Coupe Turbo of similar mileage/age for under £3k these days.

    im gonna break my car

Lol I'm driving a goldmine, Leather seats, Factory Sat Nav, Lexmauls, Bonnet Extension, BBS RKs, Dbilas Performance mods

I would get far more selling those individually then as a whole car for sure.
