    upgrade turbo to 300horses???

long story short, girlfriends mates brother works for a turbo company, cant remember the name. he has turned to me and said he can put on a hybrid turbo (i know naff all on this subject so bear with me, he also said something about cutting something back and upgrading a wheel of some form) then map it and it'll push 300bhp (1.9cdti 150) he said this could be done for a grand (off the books)

told him i'm not interested as i believe the rest of the engine cant deal with that power and off the books means no come back when engine goes pop. he assures me that the engine can, but to be honest i dont know. can anybody shed any light on this, anyone done it?

I wouldnt risk it myself, all that extra power would kill the clutch in no time IMO, plus other damage can be done

the turbo bit makes sense same as the leh upgraded turbos id see if they can do that to the turbo but only map it to 250bhp fr 300bhp im sure youd need other mods more than just a turbo change and map

the engines are really strong and will be good for some good power its the transmission that will be the problem

I reckon 300bhp would mean you'd need to spend loads upgrading the rest of the mechanicals to cope, gearbox, clutch, driveshafts.....bythe time you've done this you may as well buy a 2nd hand BMW 330 and chip it.....just don't know how reliable a 300bhp diesel astra is going to be....get a tuning box and 200bhp, if you want a faster diesel I'd start with something with a bigger engine and more power to start with I reckon

already got a remap by motech, he reckons its pushing around 197bhp with that, since then had a stainless exhaust. no idea what it is running, need to get it on the rr. gearbox has already failed once!
