Looking at the thread of 'what was your first job?' I started thinking about my first job and how it lead to what I am doing now. My first job after college was a Graphic Designer.
I did this for 18 months and I wasn't good enough to be a fuly fledged Graphic Designer - in the days when you had a drawing board instead of a Mac I might add.
I then had a job as an Assistant Manager in a Contract Packaging Company (a stop gap basically) before getting a job as a Quality Inspector in a Printed Packaging Company...
So my job history is as follows:
College - Printing specialising in Origination
Assistant Manager - Contract Packing Company
Quality Inspector - Printed Packaging Company
Quality/Techincal Co-Ordinator - same Printed Packaging Company
Sales Representative - Another Printed Packaging Company
Sales Executive - Another Printed Packaging Company in London
Sales Executive - Another Printed Packaging Comapny in Belfast
Business Development Manager - Another Printed Pcakaging Co. in the UK
Product Manager - at one of my clients of the before mentioned job
Senior Product Manager - at the same Company when I agreed to move to China
Product Director - my current position in the same Company having lived in China for about 6 years.
What's interesting to me is that I never imagined that I would end up doing what I am doing now when I started out, but all my experience from my previous jobs comes into play in my current job - so the question is - what did you start out doing and how did it lead to what you are doing now?
