    Your advice pls

Hi Astra owners, long time no see - Hope everyones good

Since my last astra ownership I've been in company cars, currently a brand new mondeo tdci - nice enough car.

However. Boredom has started creeping in and tbh the mondeo isn't doing it for me speed wise so I've started looking at other options.

    So usual thing-

5k to spend. I need straight out of the box speed and handling. Sub 7 secs 0-60 essential, the faster the better. Needs to be reliable, less than 8 yrs old and parts reasonably priced. Insurance and fuel costs not a major problem. Nothing French!!!

Having looked around the only car meeting the above is a civic type r. I'm test driving two tomorrow (in between Porsche shopping with my boss ).

    So just two questions really...

Firstly, can anyone give me experienced opinions on the ctr? Driving experience? Things to look out for etc

Secondly, has anyone got any better ideas?!

Is 5k the absolute limit? I have been looking at S2000's recently, need closer to 7k though. Insurance is a killer for me on them, cheapest quote is £1500, almost 3 times more than my coupe with mods declared

Hi dave how's things buddy? Still got the coupe then I take it?

I would love an s2000 but like you say they're a tad dearer and I really want to try and stick to the budget if possible. Have u looked at the 350z? Insurance doesn't seem so bad?

Have you ever driven a CTR?

Not bad Tim, you? Yeah still got the coupe atm, though am seriously considering braking it and getting something else. Just finding it hard to choose something else lol.

I looked at the 350z's a while back and would love one, but fuel costs + the killer £400 tax would be too much for me. Hoping to get a mortgage soon so don't want to get anything thats more expensive to run then the coupe.

Never driven a CTR and ones in my budget don't really appeal to me TBH. I love the new Civic, dad has the 2.2 diesel and drive it quite a lot, but a CTR in that shape is 10k+ so too expensive.
