    1.6 Won't start

My mate phoned me earlier and asked if i could help as her car wouldn't start. She drove it yesterday and it was fine but she got in it this morning and it just wouldn't start. The engine just turns over but won't fire.... I've not worked much on petrol engines, only mainly diesels so can anyone point me in the right direction on where to start looking.

    cheers.

    16v or 8v?

Could be anything try the pedal test first to see if there are any error codes, if not - I'd check fuel pump, possibly crank sensor though sensors may throw an error up, fuel pump wouldn't.

Cheers, I've sent her a message with details of the pedal test and how to do it. I'll see what she comes back with.

Had a call today... She had been told by a guy who works in a garage that apparently its a common fault with the petrol Astras. All she had to do is put the accelerator flat to the floor and keep turning the ignition and it eventually started and has started first time every time since.
