which tv would you buy for £350

Moving out soon and looking for a new tv for my room. Has to be full HD, 1080p, freeview (I think they all do) and cheap.

    I'm undecided between

    and...

    http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/lg-32lh...59516-pdt.html

    Any opinions?

The LG one is 100hz which means a smoother picture - the other one does not mention this?

There is also no mention of the contrast ratio on the samsung one.

I would go for the LG.
Now drives : 2002 Astra SRi Turbo in Black
    PREVIOUS ASTRA'S : 1990 GTE 2.0 8v | 1993 1.4 GLS | 1994 1.6 Cesaro | 1995 1.8 16v Sport

They both look like cracking TV's and I'm sure they would both serve your purposes well. People have their views and opinions but generally speaking Samsung is regarded as the daddy of Plasma screens and LG are the mutts nuts of LCD panels.

Plasma screens are usually made almost entirely by the manufacturer that makes them. Whereas LG is one of the largest manufacturer's of LCD technology and no matter which manufacturer's LCD you buy, if you dismantle it you are highly likely to find that it has an LG LCD display panel inside and it has basically been re-packaged with another manufacturers GUI, software and logo etc.

As you are looking at Curry's I would pop into a store and see them both working, also go into each of the menu's and have a play with the settings because the shop settings can get messed about by customers, which could make one TV look rubbish compared to the other. Also remember to compare sound quality if you're not connecting it to a seperate system as this is often over looked. Also, bear in mind that when you get the TV home and in your living room with nothing else to compare it with, you will probably be chuffed either way!

gotta say every HD TV i've ever bought has been LG

love the features you get with some of them and how they look!

i use a 22" HD for my PC which is also connected to my 32" HD (for media centre) also use the 32 for xbox and general TV

the freeview tuners seem to pick up alot! (the current aerial im connected to is awful, you have no idea how bad its been bodged haha)

lol i sound like such a fan boy but to be honest i cant fault them and will always reccomend them

Recently, we bought a Sharp 32" LCD from Argos for £280. It comes with freeview and has a USB port on the back to play divx movies. Its worth checking out if you want to pay a little less

Whichever one you buy, check online for the calibration settings - LCD TV's ship with factory default settings for the picture (colour, brightness etc etc), and until calibrated you will not be getting the best picture from the TV you can.
