huge mess of headunit wiring, need help!

My new headunit came with bare wires to be wired into the existing loom

    Headunit wires:

    "P.CONT" - orange
    to ignition - Red
    to antenna - blue
    Mem backup - yellow
    Ground - Black

    and then the speaker wires

and the car's wiring loom doesn't have a plug, it too is bare wire
    its an astra g 2000

    Loom wires:

    -THICK-

    Red - permanant live?
    Brown - ground

-MEDIUM- I assume these are speaker wires?
    yellow
    yellow+brown
    blue
    blue+brown
    white
    white+brown
    Green
    green+brown

    -THIN-
    white+brown
    grey+brown
    black+brown
    red+brown
    2X Red+blue
    red
    red+white
    grey
    grey+yellow

Please could someone take the time to explain which wires need connecting to which, and which are redundant or provide me with a diagram

    thanks, Adam

Adam the first thing i'd recomend is to get a multimeter to test all the wires. Because they have all been cut you might find somethings not working or a fuse has blown

Anyway you have the earth and permament live wires correct, the accessory wire will be the thin red. The blue antenna needs connecting to the grey wire

You have the speaker wires paired up already with their colours. Blues are front left, Yellows front right, Greens rear left and White rear right. The ones with the brown trace are earth

Out of the other wires which your not using on the car the grey/yellows illumination, one red blue will be speed pulse and the other steering wheel controls, red/white will be illumination for steering wheel controls and for switching the top display to accept radio data and the last 4 will be for the top display radio data wires

    Thanks for the help,
I don't have a multimeter but my friend does, how would i go about testing them?
And is the accesory wire the same as the ignition feed as in a remote wire?
    thanks

You'll need to set it to DC volts, put the black lead of the multimeter to earth and the red to the battery live to test for live, the same will go for accessory/ ignition live. Then set it to ohms and use both leads on each pair of speaker wires to test for 4 ohms in resistance

Accessory is the same as igniton live on the headunit, it just tells the radio to switch on and off with the keys. The remote wires is the electric aerial output

If a fuse has blown look at the sticky at the top of the MK4 electrical section for a diagram

    Properlalery will happen soon!
Im only using vauxhall wiring until i've run new speaker wires, put my amps in and can connect all the sound hassle free with trusty RCA!
and at some point i need to do something about the terrible aerial, not sure what though!
