Post Cleaning the expansion tank in MK3

Hi! My expansion tank is very brown and I would like to clean it before discarding it, a new one costs 40+VAT !!!!!
Searching I've found that putting in the dishwasher will clean it... but I have no dishwasher

    Have you tried another method?

    Thanks!

Isn't baking soda supposed to clean bottles really well? With hot water...

I'm quite scary about the dishwasher, the coolant is corrosive (to skin and to paint) if is too dangerous for drinking I won't leave it where somebody cleans plates and glasses.....

I'm trying the baking soda and boiling water if it helps....

    Doing some research and experimenting...

    1) Rice (also could be gravel) + cold water. Shake for 5 minutes and rinse for 10 (to prevent any rice to remain inside).
    2) Leave it overnight with bleach.

I'm leaving the tank overnight but the rice has done most of the job, it's not spot on but I can say it's a clear tank

Rice and bleach worked for me.
