    Going beyond a joke!

Long story short - If i can keep it like that!!??

Have an error code P0505 : Idle Control Malfunction

Have now replaced the 2nd throttle body as the ICV is built in (engine code: X18XE1) and still got the fault code and problems with idle sitting high and when crusing at a certain speed the revs drop and shoot back up again as if the revs are bouncing.

Put the car in at my mates garage for a diagnostic and everything lead to the ICV.

The TB iv just replaced i got from Vauxcentre in Romford, Essex. It was 2nd hand, but was tried and tested and comes with 90 days guarantee, so i know its a trusted part.

    Can anyone off any suggestions?

Really starting to get on my nerves now and my bank account is taking a serious pounding!

    Cheers!

assuming that the throttle body has been tested and is working correctly, you may have the old X18XE fault of a knackered ecu, they suffer from heat and dry solder issues. alot of the X18XE's developed throttle body problems of some sort, so going 2nd hand may mean you are constantly chasing your tail

Yeah they are real top blokes!

TB is spotless... Everyone iv put in and inlcuding my original one have been cleaned within an inch of their life.
The one i got from from vauxcentre was filthy, but looked almost brand new by the time i finished cleaning it.

Would the inlet manifold cause an error with the ICV?

All the tests at my mates garage indicate that the throttle body was showing no resistance when idle and once under load it shoot through the roof

both throttle bodies have been tested.

before putting this one on, the other was tested at my mates garage and as per previous comment, wasnt showing any resistance at all. its like there was no throttle body at all??!!

i thought the ecu, but was praying it wasnt. is there a way to actually get the ecu tested? is t best to speak to some with a tech2?

    Hey Rob,

I if your getting the same fault with a different throttle bodie then I would say its the ECU.

Only place near you/me I know of is Colchester fuel injection.
They can test pretty much anything fuel related. Nice guys too.

Other than that has the Vauxcentre got one you could just hang on the car to try out?

I tried another TB before i got the one from Vauxcentre. So im guessing 2 out of 3 TB's cant have the same fault (ICV malfunction). Looks like i may have 3 TB's in perfect working order! lol

Colchester not to far from me, and my mum lives there too so wont be an issue for me to pop down

Thanks for all the advice. Looks like il prob have to find another £300 to get it reconditioned!!!! lol
