    Question Shark eye headlamps

I'm considering a change to the front end seeing as though I am no longer carrying out the engine conversion due to a change in circumstances.

So I've got a few questions after trawling the many pages of search results:

I can see that GM and Depo make / made the units. Are there any others available?

Can you get "Fully" smoked units? As the ones I have seen have got chrome covers on the projectors, where as I would want black covers.

Are there any plug and play units out there like the Depo / FK angle eyes that use H7 bulbs instead of DS2 bulbs?

If there are no plug and play units are there any wiring harnesses available to connect to the original loom? Also do you need bulb holders etc... if you are running DS2's?

Any recommendations on places to buy these?

Finally any pictures of the "Fully smoked"?

    Thanks in advance

This is about as fully smoked as they come, anything more will be a home made mod that could look quite good

I don't believe there are any other makes of shark eyes out there now and the only ones your going to get are the ones you have to make your own wiring adaptor for. These ones will have amber indicators that you can't do away with. They will also need bulb retaining rings for the D2S's and indicator bulbs

There were a few plug and play Depo H7 shark eyes around late last year but these were all left hand drive with no way of changing them so be careful

    Thanks for the reply.

When you say "make your own wiring adaptor". Do you mean that you can buy connectors for multi pin plugs on the back of the unit so that you can solder new wires onto the original headlight wires and join them using the connector on the back of the lights? Or do you mean that you have to run new wires from the original wires though the back of covers and join them inside the head light unit?

Why can't you change the amber indicators? Is it an orange filter inside the unit? Or do no manufacturers produce chrome style alternatives as they are a strange offset?

Can the bulb holders for the D2S's and indicator bulbs be brought from Vauxhall?

What type of D2S's would you recommend? 50W 6000K, etc...

Finally do these look like the Depo units: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...T#ht_927wt_911

You can still buy the all Chrome ones http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Astra...item3cad4dace5

Which you could just open up and Spray yourself!

Or the R8 Astra lights come with the Projector bit in black as standard just depends if you want the LED daytime driving lights. Clicky

THE STATEMENTS MADE ABOVE ARE MERELY MY OPINION AND SHOULD NOT BE INTERPRETED AS STATEMENTS OF FACT UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED

    Thanks for the info.

Although I am not looking at the chrome or R8 style ones. So going back to the ones that I posted on EBay do these look like the smoked DEPO's that people refer to: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...T#ht_927wt_911 ?

    Ebay links no longer there

Indicators - Yes the light it's self has the amber lense

All parts can be got from vauxhall

Wiring - German ebay sells plugs with wiring on that plug into the headlight and you could solder the other ends onto the headlight wires, there's a recent thread in the MK4 electrical forum about these

    Is this EBay Link better?

I looked on German EBay, although I wasn't sure what to search for

Also that's a P*sser about the amber lense. I might have to think about opening them up and removing them...
