Smile Just picked up my mk4 SXi

    chuffed to bits!

only downer I've found is that the steering wheel starts to wobble around 65mph, what does this mean?

I'm guessing the wheels need to be balanced?

also the air vent on the left of the steering wheel is so loose that when i have the fans on it points downwards, how can i tighten this up?

heres some photos by the way, these were taken by the dealer, will get some nicer shots soon as possible

    cheers

I'll give them a call tomorrow as they're about 40 miles away so its an 80 mile round trip which is a real pain!

maybe be worth checking balancing first then? Its only a fiver a wheel normally so could work out cheaper than spending money on petrol driving to the dealers.

so the next question is: Kwik Fit or National Tyre Centre?

I'd rather pay to get them balanced than take all day driving about... though its a decent drive but not when its wobbly!

dont think it matters too much really as its a relatively quick and simple job. But like you say you may as well spend the money of that than on petrol as well as time going to the dealers

try the balancing thing to start with mate, then if that doesnt cure it tracking. doubt itl be anything worse than that!

nice clean and tidy looking motor you have there sir!

oh, and the airvent, make sure its seated correctly, its held in with two dowels. failing that pop it out and glue a thin strip of felt to the end of it, just to add abit of friction. i had to do this with the chrome vents i have

does the airvent pull out or do i need to get the whole fascia off?

the aircon is bloody awesome, its like being in a fridge with it set to 2, setting it to 4 is like getting out the fridge and into the freezer!
