Question Has anyone upgraded to Vectra VXR brakes?

    Hi all,

I had posted this under the mk4 section but didnt have much luck there.
Maybe some of you have carried out this upgrade on your Astra VXR's

Since having a rear brake problem casued by a sized caliper on the passenger rear, I have been looking at upgrading the system all round.

My first port of call is the fronts, now if I have done my home work right. it looks like the Vectra VXR fronts is a straight forward upgrade.

Assuming I have the calipers, carriers, discs and pads. (I also have Astra VXR front stainless brakelines already)

Now the rears im not sure about, I have already upgraded my rears to the Astra VXR set up, which is basicly the bigger discs with a VXR hub carrier.
Does anyone know if to fit the Vectra VXR rears, its just a case of buying the calipers with the maching carriers, discs and pads?

Or will I have to get some sort of modified hub carrier?

Cheers in advance for any help.

The Vectra VXR fronts arent a straight fit, you need brackets made up for them. Rears are the same. Regal sell a front Vectra VXR upgrade kit and Courtenay so a rear setup.

All the extra weight of the VXR stuff you may as well get some alloy bells and dics and 4 pots.

Given that the price from Regal is £1k for the 343mm Vectra VXR setup or £905 for their own 330mm setup with 4 pot calipers its no taking rocket science to work out the better option.

    Cheers Dave and Mark,
My main chain of through with all this, is that I would be able to just go to a Vauxhall dealer at any point to buy spares etc, as well as gaining some extra stopping power.

But it is certainly making me have a re-think.

    Cheers for the input guys

Worth bearing in mind that Vectra VXR discs cost a fortune to replace as well.

daft thing is though the Vectra rears discs are cheaper than the Astra rears from a Vaux dealer. I swear they make the price up as they go along lol
