newbie here already have a problem with my mk4 coupe

as the title says am new to the forum after years away for vauxhall ive got another one a 2000 mk4 2.2 coupe and i love it but i bought it sunday with some gsi snowflake alloys wearing 205 40 17 tyres 2 of which were knacked and there just too small so i bought 2 225 45 17 tyres from work which i have my eye on for a while and had them fitted today the front 2 are still 205 40s on the front and the bigger one on the back tomoro im having the front two changed also.

anyways immidatley after there where fittted its jumped into limp mode and wont do more them 40mph and the is a flashing light on the dash with a triangle and a skidding car in it . is this just due to the tyres been different sizes on the front than the rear or did the fitter break a sensor somewhere although he didnt look to be man handling anything.

Am absolutley gutted because ive fell in love with it already if anyone can help me cheers in advance

ABS and traction control system is freaking out because the wheels are spinning at difference rates. The ECU assumes your wheelspinning and reduces the throttle to restore grip.

Sorting the other two tyres will cure this issue. Until then, locate the fuse that controls these systems and pull it.

Just remember if you just pull the fuse you will also lose power steering.

Also 225 45 17 is the wrong size tyre for a mk4 astra. You should ideally run 215/40/17 to keep the speedo right ish.
